J.ZAAL (Dutch school draftsman and engraver active around 1670) "Wild boar hunting" Original etching by a subject by Franz Snyders. Beautiful copy in the third state of three, with the address of Gerard Valck, but probably from a copy of the collection entitled "Oeuvre de Basan" published by the French publisher in Paris between 1761 and 1779, as evidenced by the support paper on which the watermark "Two-faced Big Crowned Eagle" and the counter-brand of the paper mill of Dupuy Auvergne, similar to Heawood 1317 typical of French paper production of the eighteenth century and frequently used by Basan, with large margins beyond the imprint of the plate, the trace of a central vertical fold but overall in excellent general condition. Rare sheet, the only work of this author mentioned in the major repertoires. Bibliography: Heawood "Monumenta chartae papyraceae" Hilversum 1986 n ° 1317. LeBlanc "Manuel de l'Amateur d'Estampes" Paris 1889 vol.4 pag. 258 n ° 1. Wurzbach "Niederlandisches Kunstler Lexicon" Leipzig 1906 - 1911 vol.2 pag.534. Measurements in mm: 450 x 685
